Computerized Paint Matching Technology

Most of the material products associated with auto body repair contain solvents or other chemicals that can cause irritation.  For this reason we ask that clients do not enter this area.  Common materials we use are paint stripper, wax remover, grease remover, fiberglass, body filler, primers, and sealers.

Let There Be Color

An important part of painting is the selection and preparation of the paint.  Selecting the correct color is particularly important when repainting only a panel or a portion of a panel.  Any variation in the color, hue, or shade will be easily detected.

Color Identification

Each type and color of paint is given an identifying number (code).  This number appears on a plate or tag on the vehicle’s door frame or other location.  Keep in mind that age, environment, and care will affect the color of the original finish.

Color Matching

Every color weathers differently, depending on a pigment composition and exposure to the environment.  Some colors fade lighter, while others become darker as they weather.  We color match the weathered color on a car so that it will match to the existing color, unless our client says otherwise.

Paint Booth, The Spray Booth

A trip to the paint booth is one of the last steps of the body repair and paint process of your car.  This room is a dedicated room to painting your car.

What is a spray booth?

A spray booth is a dedicated room where the paint of a car is applied.  Our paint booth is a fireproof room designed to filter and circulate the air that comes in and out.  Our spray booth is compliant with federal, state, and local safety codes.

Why we use a paint booth?

Because it is safe, it’s the law and it results in quality work.

Other “paint shops” or freelance painters paint out in the open air.  First of all, that is illegal, bad for the environment, unprofessional, and you can tell by the result of their work.  As the saying goes, you get what you pay for.  But if you want a professional job, you come to professional shops like DEVIOUS DESIGNS.

There are three major reasons why we paint cars in a spray booth:

  1. It’s the Federal, State, and local law.

  2. Paint booths exclude dust.

  3. Exhaust fans in the booth draw out overspray and paint fumes.

A paint booth prevents dust from settling on fresh new paint.

A spray booth also reduces fire hazards and improves the working conditions for the painter.

Our paint booth is equipped with filters to assure that only clean, dust-free air is drawn into the area.  A ventilation system pulls airborne paint to the outside of the booth, where another series of filters remove paint particles before they are blown into the atmosphere.

What Is A Custom Paint Job?

A custom paint job is when a shop paints your car a completely different color from the current one of your car.   we can help you create your own custom color or match any color you desire.

Why would you want to paint your car a custom color?

This option is for those clients who want their cars to stand out, be unique, or for nostalgic reasons.

How is the job done? The Process

Preparing your car for paint.  Like all traditional paint jobs, there is a standard paint preparation process we follow, the only difference in a custom paint job is the color.  You design your custom color for your car.

Pick your color and finish.  Choosing the right color is crucial for a custom paint job because it will be the color your car will be “married” to, so make sure you are completely in love with it.  Once you have an idea of what the color you want is, our paint technician sometimes will make a sample of it so you can feel comfortable with your choice.

*Especially if you’re building a hot rod, muscle car, classic car or a custom car, it is a good idea to take a sample of your custom color and see it under as many different lighting conditions as possible to make sure it’s the right color for your vehicle.

Painting your car your custom color.  With your color picked out, we make a reality, our technician will paint your car your custom color in our paint booth.   We only use the best paints.  After this all you have left to do is decided on the finish.

Painting your car it’s paint finish.  Along with the color selection, you have additional options for the finish, which include:

  • candy

  • flake

  • matte/flat

  • metallic

  • pearl
